'Carok', The Unique Culture of Indonesia from Madura Island

Abdul Ghafir - As we know that Indonesia has many islands, ethnic group, and culture. For example: Madura's ethnic, Java's ethnic, and etc. There is no doubt that Indonesia has variety of culture, I am as Indonesian and Madura's ethnic.

Now i will persentation one culture of madura ethnic, that is "carok".

Carok comes from the acient Kawi language, which means fighting. The carok is tradition of fighting between two people and large families using tradition weapons/celurit.

Madura etchnic have a thought character, and prioritize self-respect, therefore problems are solved by violent means.

Carok usually occurs regarding issues related to honor or self esteem for Madura's people, such as: infidelity family dignity or honor event though the majority of Madura are muslim, many individuals still odhere the carok tradition.

Therefore, the Indonesian especially the Madura's people are very cerefull in taking actions that do not conflict with islamic law.
