Kediri Regency

Kediri Regency bordered by Jombang Regency in North, Malang Regency in East, Blitar and District of Tulungagung Regency in South, and Nganjuk Regency in the West and North. Kediri City became Enklave from Kediri Regency. The interior contained many arts and cultures that still cling to this region. And there's some on the way over in my neighborhood.

Jaranan art is a traditional dance that played by dancers with dance equipment in the form of horses made of woven bamboo with the dancers wearing clothes like soldiers and carrying whips. In my area it was generally held at certain events, such as nyadran, the village headmen, and the khitanan. Usually after the events held are over.

As Ramadan approaches, many javans visit the tombs. They prayed for the ancestors, cleaned the tomb, scattered the flowers, and held thorn ceremonies. In Javanese, the unique tradition became known as nyadran. One thing that is unique and must be present in every Nyadran is a joint meal or feast. This procession is the one of the people are waiting for. Each family brings food from the earth. People blended in to enjoy the food, which was served on a banana leaf.

People who practice the Nyadran tradition believe that cleaning the grave is a symbol of self-cleaning before the Holy Month. Not only human relationship with the Creator, Nyadran is done as a form of devotion to the predecessors and ancestors. The harmony and warmth of brotherhood is felt every time the Nyadran tradition takes place.
