Lampung Province
Lampung is the name of the Indonesian province of Sumatra. Lampung province is located in southernmost part of Sumatra Islands with Bandar Lampung capital city called "tapis berseri". Lampung's culture is a blend of Arabic, Chinese, and Indian culture. The enclosed language is divided into two dialects A and O.
Lampung
has a traditional house called nuwo sesat. Lampung province has very
distinctive cloth called tapis. This fabric gave the impression of
grandeur because it was packed with gold thread and gave it a beautiful
lustrous color on tapis. Tapis cloth usually used in tribal
ceremonies by society or when attending formal events.
Lampung
has more than one tribal dance, such as sigeh penguten dance which served by
young women or children and usually served to welcome for important guests in
certain event.
Melinting dance is
a traditional dance that originating from East Lampung. At present, melinting
dance is not only displayed in the scope of keratuan melinting. Melinting
dance has now switched function as a dance that displayed as entertainment or
as offering to welcome guests from Lampung outside.
Lampung
people are divided into two customs, namely Pepadun and Sai Batin.
Siger is an accessory used as a crown. The crown color is gold, shows
the original identity of the Lampung communities. The typical of Lampung
culinary is very good, for example, seruit, tempoyak and lapis legit.
In my opinion, Lapis Legit and Seruit are the best
recommendations for Lampung specialties. Cangget Agung and Bumi Ruwa
Jurai is a good song, I often sing it during Lampung language lessons.
